Tom Scott Vineyard Newsletter - Napa Earthquake Update!

Notes from the Vineyard

Dear Friends,

We know this is late in arriving, but we wanted to let you know we are all okay, and were very fortunate to have suffered only minor damage in Monday morning's South Napa Earthquake.

Our Fountain

As you can see, our large fountain went over and will need to be replaced, and our dry stack wall has crumbled a bit more.

Our Wall

Surprisingly, we lost only a few glasses and a couple of knickknacks in the house. In the barn we had some things come off shelves, but nothing was broken.

Monday morning, Tom was able to enter Tower Road Wine Storage and check on our inventory. The good news is we lost no wine! A few cases had shifted, but again nothing broken.

Our power was lost only briefly, but we kept having computer issues, which is what delayed the sending of this update to you by email until now.

Our daughter Brandyn, our son-in-law Brady and grandson Spencer are also safe. Their home was much closer to the epicenter and suffered more severe damage. One chimney fell down, another is damaged and all their dishes and glassware wound up broken on the floor.

When we were younger, feeling the earth move was a whole different experience! This was a frightening experience, a loud jarring action that left us clinging to each other wondering if we should try to get outside. In the end, we held tight to each other until things calmed down and then we surveyed our home by flashlight. We cannot express how grateful we are that the earthquake was not worse than it was. We're trying to maintain a little perspective...

Thank you to all of those that called, texted and emailed to check on us. It truly warmed our hearts to have so many good wishes sent our way.
